I suppose you guys have heard about the record Exxon profits?
If you haven’t hears the basics:
Exxon profits hit a record $36 billion last year.
“Exxon Mobil Corp. posted a profit of $36 billion on sales of $371 billion for 2005, making it the best year the energy company has ever had.
In fact, Exxon Mobil’s massive year-end earnings make it the most profitable year on record for any company in U.S. history […] thrilling many analysts and investors and outraging some consumer advocates. […] ‘No oil company should be allowed to reap world record profits from one of the nation’s worst natural disasters,” FTRC President Jamie Court said.’ ”
The reason the profits have gone up is because is costs that much more to produce oil.
“1. Exxon Mobil doesn’t set the price of oil, the world market does. They’re just cashing in. That price is determined by supply and demand, and nothing else. Sorry. If you want oil to be cheaper, you have to drill for more of it, bring to market and drive down the price.
2. The oil companies are doing what they’re supposed to. It is the function of a public corporation to make as much money as possible for its shareholders.
3. If we expect to drill for more oil…and refine more gasoline…where do people think the money to do that will come from? Reinvested oil company profits, that’s where. Somebody has to pay for exploration.” -Neal Boortz

Day 3 of raking. Insane. This woman’s neighbor likes to pay more, which is good. Example 10am = 2pm today (4 hours, for all you math scholars) ended up paying out $50. Sweet.
Interview date is finalized: Tues, Jan 31, 3:30pm. Wish me luck.
Waking up at 8:30 blows.
Being able to buy you own gas for the first time in over a month is GREAT.
I owe anna a date, for real. I have been downright po.

Holy God. *crosses self*
That woman has a giant yard.
10:00am:
arrive, start raking
12:30pm:
finish raking, start bagging
1:30pm:
Lunch break
She brought me a sandwich from this barbeque place, kicked ass
1:40pm: Continue bagging
2:45pm:
SMOKE BREAK
2:50pm:
continue bagging
3:15pm:
quitting time.
$40 in my pocket divided by 5 hours of work = $8/hr, tax free
She said between $8 ad $10. No complaints. Can’t argue.
I am not even half finished with bagging the leaves. haha. Manual labor feels pretty good.
I worked my ass off completely, nonstop except for the afforementioned breaks. Basically, I want her to think I’m great so she can tell all her neighbors. Which has already worked, because her neighbor is hiring me out tomorrow, I’m told.
I also have an interview set up sometime next week (I think, it hasn’t been finalized) with a Pool/Lake Management company that wants me to do Lakefront Supervision if I’m interested, or just neighborhood supervision. I think I’ll get the job because I have 5 solid years of Pool expirience, 1 year as lakefront lifeguard and instructor, 1 year neighborhood lifeguard, 3 years as neighborhood pool manager for like 7+ pools, plus some maintenance under my belt. Things are looking… up.
I have just been informed that barry has also made a chronoligical post. That is neat.

So I poseted this ad on craigslist: http://houston.craigslist.org/lbs/127628172.html
I am a broke college student, inbetween jobs. I need to make some cash to pay for gas and books for this semester at Houston Community College. I’m a pretty big guy and a volunteer fire fighter, so I am pretty useful for ANY manual labor (lawn care, moving residence, boxes, etc) but I am also extremely well versed in computers.I have also, in my recent employment history, cleaned pools.
Summary:
I will do almost anything to make some ends meet right now
I also play guitar and sing, if you’re lonely/bored and want to hear a guy sing some prety songs for you, I can do that too.
I Actually got a RESPONSE. This woman, Katherine, called me back and had all this stuff for me to do including:
-Setting up computers at her office
-Cleaning the pool she has (in her front yard, haha)
-Random yardwork
She also asked if I had a cell phone and I said “well… yes but I’m not current on the bill right now…” to which she replied “Oh don’t worry I have this prepaid phone I’ll let you borrow so I can contact you.”
But then she calls me back.
“How much do you owe on your cell phone”
me: “like $80″
her: “who is your provider”
me:”Cingular”
her:”Well I have Cingular too so how about you bring your bill and I can help you get that paid tomorrow so we can be in contact”
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She’s also going to buy my lunch the days I work with her and comp some gas.
What a blessing.
I’ve been looking into this for a while, and I’ve finally found the name of the problem I have:
I HAVE: PERSISTENT MIRROR MOVEMENTS!
When one of my hands moves, the other moves with it, to a lesser extent. Completely Invuluntary. This thing is linked to every disease going:
“Neurologic syndromes associated with persisting mirror movements are:
-X-chromosome linked Kallmann syndrome
-Klippel-Feil syndrome
-phenyl ketonuria
-agenesis of the corpus callosum
-Usher syndrome
-various abnormalities of the spinal cord, and
-diabetes insipidus
-abnormal ipsilateral cortical activity
The exact pathophysiology of this syndrome is still unclear.”
UNCLEAR? WHAT? CRAP. NONE of that sounds good. I mean… I don’t know what any of that is, but none of it sounds fun.
I turned 18 and got my TDL renewed on April 12, 2005. When you get your TDL renewed on your 18th you sign up for your Voter Registration and, for us guys, your Selective Service Regestration. I wanna say I got my Selective Service Card in About May, standard for government documents. I got my voter’s registration YESTERDAY. EIGHT MONTHS LATER.
They want to draft my ass pretty bad but apparently my it takes about as much effort to create new human life as it does to grant me a right to vote. That chaps me just a little.
For real, I just couldn’t do the xanga thing anymore. I just needed more from a blog.
In other news: May 28th I should graduate from rookie training at the Fire Dept and I should be able to start my EMT and hopefully get that done over the summer. Yay.
